Former Big Brother Naija star and actress Bisola Aiyeola has opened up about how her mother supported her during her pregnancy.
In an interview with Nolly Wire, Bisola revealed that she became a mother at a young age, and while her mother was initially emotional and saddened by the news, she remained true to her promise of standing by her through it all.
Bisola shared that her mother assured her she would help care for her daughter so she could focus on her career—and she kept her word. To this day, the actress says her mother continues to support her in raising her child.
The interviewer asked: Tell me about a moment in your life when somebody nudged you in the right direction, and it led to a life-changing part for you.
Bisola responded: I have had several instances, I will say one I was nudged by my mum. When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, she got really emotional and sad at first, but she said something to me and stood by that word. She told me, ‘Don’t worry, have the baby. When you have the baby, I will look after her, so you can go back to work or whatever it is you want to do. To this day, my mother still helps out with my daughter”.
Last year, in an interview with Maria Chike, Bisola Aiyeola addressed the criticism she faced for her strict parenting style. She shared that many believed she was being overprotective by not allowing her daughter to own a phone until she turned 16. Recalling an incident, Bisola revealed that she once caught her daughter creating a smart chat account, which led her to take disciplinary action.
Back in 2022, the actress spoke about the struggles of being a single mother and how her wedding never happened despite a marriage proposal. She recounted the hardships of raising her baby, revealing that she had to feed her with garri and improvise diapers using her mother’s old scarves, iro, and buba.
