‘My leg still hurts’ – Victony to undergo fifth surgery

Victony reveals hit song 'Soweto' transformed his life

Nigerian singer, Anthony Ebuka Victor better known as Victony, has revealed that he still struggles with leg pain despite undergoing four surgeries.

Glamsqaud recalls that In April 2021, Victony was involved in a severe car accident that resulted in one fatality and left him and two others injured. The accident left him in a coma for three to four days and confined him to a wheelchair for about a year.

Reflecting on the incident, Victony mentioned that he was asleep during the crash and has no recollection of the event. He expressed a desire to remember, believing that being awake might have changed the outcome.

In a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, the singer revealed that he was scheduled for a fifth surgery due to the persistent pain.

“My leg still hurts. I am still going to do another surgery. I’m living it. I have just accepted that experience. “It’s what is making me who I am today. That’s my story. I don’t want to happily identify with it but it’s part of my story.”

V noted that he suffered from “survival guilt” after finding out that someone died from the accident but he later snapped out of it.

Tems

In other news, Nigerian R&B star, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems is poised to become the first African artist to win two Grammys in one night, according to Billboard.

Tems is nominated in three categories at this year’s Grammys including Best African Music Performance for “Love Me Jeje”, Best Global Music Album for “Born In The Wild”, and Best R&B Song for “Burning.”

Billboard is predicted that the diva would win two of the categories when the stars gathered at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 2nd.

According to the prediction, Tems’ “Love Me Jeje” -a sample of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 song of the same title- will win the Best African Music Performance category ahead of “Tomorrow” (Yemi Alade); “MMS” (Asake & Wizkid); “Sensational” (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay); “Higher” (Burna Boy).

However, “Sensational” by American singer Chris Brown, featuring Davido and Lojay, was designated a “Look Out For” by Billboard.

Billboard also noted that Burna Boy’s “Higher” is a strong contender in the category given the singer’s pedigree.

“Water” by South African youngster Tyla won the inaugural Best African Music Performance award last year.

Tems is also predicted to win the Best Global Music Album category with her debut album, “Born In The Wild.”

The other nominees in the category are “Alkebulan II” (Matt B featuring Royal Philharmonic Orchestra); “Paisajes” (Ciro Hurtado); “Heis” (Rema); “Historias De Un Flamenco” (Antonio Rey).
