Big Brother Naija Reality TV Star, Bamike Olawunmi Adenibuyan, better known as Bambam, has opened up about the painful side of childbirth.

On the recent episode of Me and My Girls on Fertitude, Bambam shed light on the often-overlooked side of childbirth. She opened up about the harsh realities of postpartum care, the dangers of medical negligence, and the importance of women advocating for themselves.

Sharing her own harrowing experience, Bambam revealed that her kidney failed, her heart weakened, and her organs began to shut down. She also disclosed that her daughter had detached from the placenta and was moments away from losing oxygen—had they arrived at the hospital just a minute later, the outcome could have been tragic.

Now a mother of two, she says every time she looks at her daughter, she is reminded of how grateful she is that God spared their lives.

The actress admitted that the experience haunted her for a long time, to the point where she had to seek therapy to help her embrace gratitude.

“My kidney failed, my heart became weak, my liver, everything was just shutting down. She had detached from the placenta; if I was a second late, she would have lost oxygen, and I would have had a stillbirth. Every time I look at her, I just say ‘what if’. That word tormented me; what if the doctor wasn’t attentive? What if the nurse didn’t do her due diligence? It haunted me for a while, I had to get therapy to walk me through being grateful”.

A year ago, Bambam spoke candidly about motherhood and her struggle with postpartum depression. She admitted that she never imagined her body would change so drastically or that she would gain so much weight. Fortunately, she had a supportive husband who never made her feel bad or body-shamed her.

Recalling her first childbirth, Bambam shared that she was surprised when her daughter was born with a different skin tone, prompting her to question the doctor. She also revealed that she battled postpartum depression and suffered from preeclampsia during her first pregnancy.
