Muslim lady criticizes Nancy Isime for using Niqab as costume on movie set (video)

A Muslim lady identified as Adiba Hayah on TikTok has called out Nollywood actress, Nancy Isime for using Niqab in a yet to be released movie.

A few days back, Nancy shared pictures from her upcoming movie on her Instagram page.

In the pictures, Nancy was seen wearing a Niqab and holding a gun. In some of the other pictures three of the casts were wearing Niqabs and engaged in a heist.

In a lengthy video, Adiba criticized Nancy for disrespecting her, her religion and everything that she represents.

Adiba expressed her displeasure on TikTok, criticizing Nancy for disrespecting her, her religion, and everything she stands for. She noted that the niqab is not a costume and should not be used to promote negative behaviors in society.

She further pointed out that Muslims are already facing significant challenges, including hardships and tribal conflicts, and do not need additional religious tension.

She made it clear to Nancy that the niqab is not just clothing but a symbol representing the character and embodiment of righteous women, shaped by a lifetime of religious teachings. She expressed her frustration with those who do not share their values using their attire for selfish purposes in a despicable manner.

Lastly, Adiba accused Nancy and others of defaming, diminishing, and belittling the character of Muslim women worldwide, questioning when this disrespect would end.

She said,

“I guess there is a new movie coming out; either it is produced by Nancy or her team, or she is featured in the movie. I am sorry if I didn’t pronounce your name well; I don’t mean to be disrespectful. However, you’ve disrespected me, my religion and everything that I represent.

Niqab is not a costume; you do not use it to represent things that are unspeakable in society. There are other things you could use, but you chose to use the niqab. Before you come under this comment section to start throwing tantrums and telling me how it is no business of mine to make a review about this, you should see this. My issue with the use of hijab and niqab in what looks like a robbery scene that makes no sense. Hijab is not a costume; it shouldn’t be used for such. We are going through a lot already in Nigeria; there is too much hardship, and there are too many tribal problems in Nigeria. Why would you want to introduce religious war? Why can’t you maintain boundaries instead of consistently trying to disrespect people’s faith just because you want to promote what brings food to your table? There are many alternative face covering that could be used in this scene instead of the niqab and the hijab. This is not another costume or fashion attire; it is an identity, a symbol of modesty, and a representation of somebody’s faith. The niqab is not just clothing; it is a lifetime of religious commitment, representing character and an embodiment of a righteous woman.

I am sick and tired of constantly seeing people who do not share the same values as we do use this outfit for their selfish interest in a despicable way for their selfish interest to promote immorality and a bad image for Muslims and those who adorn themselves with it.

You people have chosen to defame, diminish and belittle the entire character of Muslim women all over the world for a costume that can be improvised. When is this going to stop?”.
