Giorgetti concentrated on shapes and improved the fabric quality. The collection ticked all the boxes of Milan’s emerging (or already established) trends: sweeping greatcoats, minis versus maxis, precise tailoring, allover black, chunky knitted furs, slightly oversized blazers worn on bare legs as coat dresses, and a hint of twisted Milanese bon-ton.

The only trend that didn’t make an appearance was the ubiquitous slinky bodycon-ness. Although Giorgetti isn’t known for his sexiness, there were a few skin-baring options to keep MSGM party animals happy—strapless or see-through tops over bralettes, ultra-mini minidresses in bonded brocade, and barely-there miniskirts held together by knotted bows.

Despite the heavy use of black in this piece, Giorgetti isn’t drawn to it. He’s a natural optimist who can see the bright side of even the most bleak circumstances. He can’t help but be drawn to color, especially if it’s bright and acidic. He gave in to his undying love for an eye-catching palette in the second part of the collection. Citrus yellows, quartz greens, metallic mauves, emeralds, and orchid pinks provided a slightly overpowering counterbalance to black’s neat drama. MSGM veterans, rejoice: the leopard has yet to change his spots.
