The Lagos State Police Command officially confirmed the completion of the autopsy procedure on Mohbad’s remains through their official Twitter account. In a statement, the Nigeria Police Force shared, “The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the public that the autopsy procedure for Mr. Mohbad has been successfully completed. Further information will be provided as soon as the results are available.”

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed these developments in an exclusive telephone interview. He stated, “Mohbad’s body was exhumed today (Thursday), and medical experts have successfully concluded the autopsy this evening. Our primary concern, as the police, is the outcome of the autopsy, and we eagerly await the results.”

The Lagos State Police Command had previously confirmed the exhumation of Mohbad’s body and the arrest of a nurse who administered an injection to him prior to his untimely death on Tuesday, September 12.

When questioned about arrests related to the singer’s death, Hundeyin mentioned, “I cannot provide details on arrests at this time, as I do not have that information. However, I can confirm that the nurse is in police custody.”

The circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, which occurred at the age of 27, remain uncertain. Earlier, the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Ikeja, revealed that Mohbad’s body was in their custody. Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, the Chief Medical Director, clarified that the Pathology Department at the LASUTH premises, which operates under the Lagos State Government, was handling the case.

It’s worth noting that the acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, had previously instructed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, to launch a thorough investigation into the tragic passing of Mohbad.

Meanwhile, fans of the late singer organized a candlelight procession on the streets of Lagos to pay their respects. The procession, which started at Lekki Phase 1, proceeded to Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Notable artists like Falz and Davido were present at the candlelight procession to honor Mohbad’s memory. Fans wore white shirts and carried banners adorned with the late singer’s photos.

In the midst of these developments, a close friend of the late Mohbad expressed concerns that some individuals had mistreated and oppressed the artist during his lifetime. This friend urged the police to invite the suspects for questioning, emphasizing that the autopsy results were of secondary importance compared to addressing the alleged mistreatment and oppression.
