Miss Nicaragua, Sheynnis Palacios has been crowned 2023 Miss Universe pageant.
The 23-year-old TV host and model emerged victorious over 19 semi-finalists to make history as the first Miss Universe from her country.
Palacios succeeds R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States, last year’s Miss Universe.
Contestants from 84 countries’ national pageants participated in this year’s Miss Universe. The judging panel included model Halima Aden, “Queer Eye” star Carson Kressley, and TikTok influencer Avani Gregg.
Thailand’s Antonia Porsild secured the first runner-up position, while Moraya Wilson from Australia was crowned the second runner-up at the 72nd edition of the prestigious global pageant.
Miss Colombia, Camila Avella, and Miss Puerto Rico, Karla Guilfú, completed the top five, with Spain’s Athenea Pérez, another member of the top 10, being awarded the title of Miss Congeniality in the pageant.
