Nigerian skitmaker and content creator, Abdulgafar Ahmad better known as Cute Abiola has taken to social media to reflect on his time spent in detention.
Glamsquad recalls that In November 2021, it was reported that the comedian had been held in Navy detention for 10 days. His absence came to light when his colleague in the comedy field, Debo Adedayo, better known as Mr. Macaroni, sounded the alarm upon realizing he was missing, having failed to show up at his office in Navy Town, Lagos.
Two days following the alarm, a Navy commander clarified that the comic actor was not missing but rather detained for violating military regulations. He had posted a video of himself in military attire on social media, contravening the armed forces’ social media policy.
The Navy commander also stated that Cute Abiola did not appear when summoned to explain but only returned after his leave had expired on November 15, 2021. He was subsequently incarcerated on the same day.
Following a trial for misconduct and indiscipline, the comedian was released from custody after 18 days to serve his punishment.
Reflecting on his past experiences, Cute Abiola admitted that his time in the military humbled him, recalling the 30 days he spent inside a cell. Nonetheless, he expresses gratitude towards the Armed Forces.
“30 days Inside Cell 2021 ! The military really humbled me !!!! Thank you Armed Forces”.
Glamsquad also recalls that a year later, Cute Abiola announced his departure from the Navy after being appointed as the Special Assistant on Creative Industries to the Governor of Kwara State.
