Microsoft Announces Windows 11 SE for Schools and Students

Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 SE, which will be limited to schools and students. This new version of Windows 11 will only be available on low-cost laptops such as Microsoft’s Surface Laptop SE, Dell Latitude 3120, and Acer TravelMate B3.

Windows 11 SE will not be limited to Microsoft applications and will not have the Microsoft Store. Certain Windows 11 functions have been eliminated from Windows 11 SE as well.

Among the new operating system’s features oriented toward schools and kids are default document backup and Microsoft Edge setup that allows for Chrome extensions.

Microsoft has released Windows 11 SE

Microsoft has unveiled Windows 11 SE, which will only be available on low-cost computers for schools and students.

“Windows 11 SE was built for teachers who need a simple, distraction-free environment for their students, as well as for school IT administrators who need devices that are secure, easy to deploy and manage, and perform well all day across the changing conditions of a school year,” Microsoft said on its official website.

According to Microsoft’s website, this latest edition of the Windows 11 operating system has restricted app installation, full-screen app launch, improved battery life, and cloud-first storage.

Which Apps Will Be Included in Windows 11 SE?

According to The Verge, because it is a Microsoft operating system, Windows 11 SE will be designed for Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Office, and the company’s cloud-based services. This does not imply that Windows 11 SE will only support Microsoft apps.

Paige Johnson, Microsoft’s education marketing director, stated that “Windows 11 SE also supports third-party apps, such as Zoom and Chrome, since we want to give schools the flexibility to utilize what works best for them.”

IT administrators have control over which third-party apps are installed. Microsoft has not yet revealed the final list of third-party programs.
