For her historic inauguration, First Lady Melania Trump chose an ensemble by acclaimed New York designer Adam Lippes. The elegant look featured a tailored navy wool coat, a matching pencil skirt, and an ivory silk crepe blouse. To complete the ensemble, Mrs. Trump opted for a classic, flat-brimmed hat by fellow New York designer Eric Javitz.

Javits created the ultra-severe boater hat that stole the show, and the internet’s attention, on inauguration day.

Melania Trump’s decision to wear the distinctive hat, despite the inauguration ceremony being moved indoors due to weather, made a bold statement. The hat was commissioned by Melania and her stylist-designer Hervé Pierre in December, and its design was echoed in the white, strapless column gown she wore to the evening’s formal balls.

“The tradition of the presidential inauguration embodies the beauty of American democracy, and today we had the honor to dress our first lady, Mrs. Melania Trump,” shared Lippes in a statement. “Mrs. Trump’s outfit was created by some of America’s finest craftsmen, and I take great pride in showcasing such work to the world.”

Lippes, a renowned figure in the fashion world, is celebrated for his sophisticated and effortlessly chic designs. Known for his sharp tailoring, feminine silhouettes, and exquisite detailing, Lippes has built a reputation for creating timeless and elegant pieces.
