Meek Mill Early Life, Career and Awards He Has Won

Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, is an American rapper, songwriter, and activist born on May 6, 1987, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Meek Mill Career

Meek Mill began taking the rap game seriously at the age of 12 after losing a street battle to neighboring rappers. He later formed a short-lived rap group, The Bloodhoundz.

He started participating in rap battles where he took the rap name Meek Mill.

In 2008, Atlanta-based rapper T.I. signed Meek Mill to his first record deal, but he was arrested for gun and drug possession just before signing and served time in prison for several months before being released in February 2009.

Mill’s debut album, Dreams and Nightmares, was released in 2012 under MMG and Warner Bros.

“Championships”, his fourth studio album was released in 2018. The album which was nominated for Grammy awards debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Its lead single, “Going Bad” (featuring Drake), peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Mill’s highest charting single to date.

 

 

Awards Meek Mill Has Won

Meek Mill has won several awards throughout his career. Here are some of the most notable ones:

BET Awards: Meek Mill has won two BET Awards, including Best Mixtape in 2012 and Best Hip Hop Video in 2019.

Billboard Music Awards: Meek Mill has won one Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Album in 2019.

iHeartRadio Music Awards: In 2020, Meek Mill was nominated for a Hip-Hop Song of the Year award.

Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award: In 2021, Meek Mill won the Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award for his work in criminal justice reform.

Meek Mill has also been nominated for several other awards throughout his career, including MTV Video Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards, and Soul Train Music Awards.
