May D blows hot over Wizkid comparisons, Netizens fire back

Nigerian singer, May D, born Akinmayokun Awodumila, has fired back at those constantly comparing him to his more famous colleague, Ayodeji Balogun better known as Wizkid.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, May D urged people to stop comparing him to anyone in the industry, especially Wizkid, emphasizing that he is a different breed.

“Don’t ever compare me to anyone in this industry again!! Especially Wiz!! I’m a different breed!! God’s baby”.

In a follow-up post, May D recalled attending an event where Wizkid was performing his song *Too Fine* while he stood in the crowd. He made it clear that he still loves Wizkid but insisted that no one should compare him to the singer.

“I remember when I went to an event, and Wizkid was performing my song with Kel, “Too Fine,” and I was in the crowd. I still love him to date but never compare”.

Back in January, May D disclosed that he was once a house husband to his foreign wife in Sweden. However, he clarified that she wasn’t the one supporting him, as his music career and shows brought in more income than her job. He explained that staying home to care for their child while she worked a 9-to-5 was a decision he made willingly. Unfortunately, their marriage didn’t survive the COVID-19 lockdown.

Last year, a Nigerian waitress publicly called out May D with receipts, accusing him of failing to pay an outstanding balance of N11K for a meal.

In response, the singer told his critics to leave him alone, admitting that he was broke. He then asked the waitress to send her account details, promising to settle the bill at the end of the month when he received his salary from his boss.
