Marc Jacobs FW 2022 collection which was displayed at the New York Public Library were the designer channeled Nietzsche’s words — “We have art in order not to die of the truth” — proposing six minutes of creativity-fueled fashion power titled “Choice.”
Column skirts and cropped flares by Jacobs had their waistlines dropped to bumster levels, and they were adorned with the barest of bustier tops or barely-there bejeweled bikinis.
A reminder of his tailoring skills were two black suits that weren’t exactly basic but came close. Were the three coordinated ensembles in gray, hospital green, and lavender that appeared at the start of the show Jacobs’s take on scrubs? It was difficult to believe otherwise in light of the Supreme Court’s most recent actions.
All of this was displayed in the Public Library while wearing opera gloves and extremely high white or black Mary Jane shoes. Despite the circumstances, dressed up.
Maybe as a result of them? Certainly as a result of them. Marc Jacobs is a combatant who uses the fashion industry as his weapon. After twelve rounds, he’s still swinging. Excellent material.
