The 2021 American Music Awards, hosted by rapper Cardi B, broadcast on Sunday night from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater to honor the best in music.

BTS, a South Korean pop group, took home three awards at the 2021 American Music Awards, including top honor artist of the year and new artist of the year for Olivia Rodrigo, the most nominated singer.

Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, a seven-member pop boyband, won the most coveted award of the night, defeating top contenders such as Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.

RM, the group’s rapper and spokesperson for the night, said on stage, “I seriously forgot what I wanted to say.” Thank you very much, AMAs. And we’re incredibly pleased to be sharing the stage with such incredible musicians.

‘We’re so honored. Thanks for that. Whoo! I’m nervous. Yeah, I’m nervous. Yeah, baby. Four years ago, we gave this first time ever TV live performance on this stage, the AMAs. And we were, like, too excited started and nervous at the time. It’s been a long and amazing time since that.’

The group also won favorite pop song for Butter and favorite pop group or duo.

Olivia Rodrigo, a pop rookie, received the most nominations at the event, with seven, but only one win in the prized new artist of the year category.
