Legendary guitarist, Geoffrey Beck better known as Jeff Beck has passed away at the age of 78.
Representatives for the legendary guitarist confirmed on Wednesday, 11th Januar that Beck passad away on Tuesday, 10th January after “suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis”.

The family of the late artist shared a message on social media, expressing their sadness at the news of Beck’s passing. They wrote
“On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing.
“After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.”
Last year, the singer made headlines when he invited actor Johnny Depp to perform with him during several shows on his UK tour, shortly after Depp had been awarded $10 million in his defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star, Johnny Depp mourns the passing of his dear friend, and collaborator, Jeff Beck.
According to the PEOPLE, Johnny Depp is “totally devastated” after the English guitarist died at the age of 78.
Depp, 59, “was by Jeff’s bedside” along with “some other rock stars” before his passing.
A source said:
“They had a really tight friendship, they were extremely close, and he got even closer over this past summer when they were touring together,” the source shares. “The sickness came on really quickly and it all deteriorated rapidly in the last couple weeks.
“Johnny is still processing this news. He’s devastated.”
Last year, Depp and Beck released their album, titled 18, on July 15.
The duo also released an official music video for “This Is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr,” the first single off the album.

Jeff Beck was born on 24th June 1944, in Wallington, south London. As a child, he sang in a church choir, and began playing guitar as a teenager.
Beck tried to dupẹ a music store in a hire-purchase scheme when he wanted to get his first instrument.

Beck attended art school in London before joining Screaming Lord Sutch. He was recommended as a replacement for Eric Clapton in the Yardbirds by Jimmy Page after Clapton left the band. Despite Beck’s prior success, the Yardbirds had many of their biggest hits during his 20-month tenure in the band, including the album “Yardbirds” and the No. 3 single “Shapes of Things.” Beck left the group in 1966 due to tensions that arose during a US tour.
After touring the world at different stages in life, Beck only put out a few albums in the 2000s and 2010s, but established himself as a respected and influential figure in the industry, collaborating with artists like Kelly Clarkson and Joss Stone. He has resided on an estate in East Sussex since 1976, and married his second wife, Sandra Cash, in 2005.
