Lagos Fashion Week Returns This October!

Yes, you read that correctly! The Lagos Fashion Week returns this October. Wow, I know you have missed this event as much as we have.

As you will recall, Glamsquad Magazine has always being a media partner for the Lagos Fashion Week for 5 years now! Yes, that is wonderful – we know!

For a decade now, the Lagos Fashion Week has continued to celebrate fashion in Africa and helped to place indigenous designers on the fashion stage. The show which features street fashion and in-house fashion events is usually set in the city of Lagos – where else could it be? Hahaha!

However, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, there were no events last year and we were left with the wonderful memories of previous events. But smiles have returned to our faces as the organizers of the high profile events have once again published a Press Release saying that the event will return this September.

The Press Release reads:

This year, the shortlisted semi- finalists in the Green Access Competition include: Femi Ajose, Founder/Creative Director, Cute-Saint, Desirée Iyama, Founder/Creative Director, Desirée Iyama, Funke Asinobi-Ola, Co-founder, FIA, Oyindamola Aleshinloye, Founder/Creative Director, Kadiju, Gift Olohije , Founder/Creative Director, Lohije, Fatima Lagundoye, Founder/Creative Director, Y’wandeLag. The top five Green Access  finalists will be commissioned to design a collection that will be showcased on the Lagos Fashion Week Runway.

Heineken Lagos Fashion Week is poised to return from October 27th -30th 2021. To ensure the safety of all our guests, the following COVID-19 protocols have been put in place:

  1. Lagos Fashion Week encourages all team members, designers, technical partners and guests to complete the Covid Vaccination programme offered by the Nigerian Government and the NPHCDA. Selection of participating models and interns will be prioritised to those fully vaccinated by October 15th.

  2. All participating designers and styling teams will be required to show evidence of a negative PCR test taken no longer than 48 hours before requested access to production areas of the Lagos Fashion Week tents. Testing will be required before access is granted to designers, styling teams and press.

  3. Guests are also encouraged to be completely vaccinated in order to attend the shows. Lagos Fashion Week guests will be required to take all safety precautions and will be required to wear masks in the Lagos Fashion Week tents and during the shows.
