Trendsetters as they are called, creative director Emily Smith released amazing designs for Pre-Fall 2023 which will be remembered for a very long time to come. The fashion house which drew its inspiration from a Lafayette 148’s original building’s history as a printing press for last year edition dug deeper to its root for this year.
The end result was a sentimental homage to the building’s past that was based on the same carefully prepared dialogue that had made the spring collection popular. While monochrome outfits had “postal stripe wave-like engineered shirred stripes and envelope-inspired pockets which were included on a superb suede workday shirt and pant, button-off features on shirting and a trench coat subtly evoked the act of ripping off stamps.”
While designing new cashmere wool knits with recognizable vertical side stripes, Smith also proceeded to riff on postal nostalgia with retro collars and buttons on utility shirting that resembled uniforms (one overshirt in “muslin brown” alludes to the image of Mr. Postman’s messenger bag).
