Koché’s Christelle Kocher Speaks On Guest Designing Emilio Pucci AW20

Known for her nonchalantly chic creations, which meld couture techniques and athletic cuts, the French designer shares the story behind her first collaboration with the Italian fashion house.

When Emilio Pucci set up shop in Capri in 1950, he provided the perfect antidote to the cumbersome skirts and nipped-in waists of archetypal post-war fashion.

Before long, the former pilot’s straw hats, open-toed sandals and sportswear-inspired designs in bold and colourful prints were the uniform of the jet set, most notably Jackie Kennedy to whom (along with other ‘reigning beauties’ of the era) he dedicated his debut 1962 haute couture collection. In recent years though, the Italian house — owned by LVMH since 2000 — has struggled to find its voice.
