Kiddwaya calls on Nigerian billionaires to make joint bid for TikTok

Kiddwaya, a former Big Brother Naija reality star, has urged Nigerian billionaires to pool their resources and acquire TikTok.

He made the call amid reports that the app could be banned in the United States.

On his username, he wrote: “What about all the Nigerian billionaires? Can we band together to acquire TikTok, or is it solely for white people?

Glamsquad recounts that in April 2024, President Joe Biden signed legislation requiring TikTok’s Chinese owner to either sell the company or shut it down within a month, by January 19.

In December, TikTok appealed the law at the US Supreme Court shortly after CEO Shou Zi Chew met with President-elect Donald Trump. Trump had revealed during a press conference that he had a “soft spot” for TikTok, adding that his administration would consider the app’s future and the possibility of a ban.

ByteDance presently awaits the Supreme Court’s judgement to determine the fate of their app in the United States.
