Actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo criticized comedian and colleague Okey Bakassi for his remarks about former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Kenneth responded on Instagram to a video where Okey questioned Obi’s ability to protect the votes of Nigerians.
Okey had said, “What I want to ask is, Nigerians are galvanised to vote for you. Do you have the capacity to defend our votes?”
In an extensive Instagram post, Kenneth retaliated against Okey, charging him with hypocrisy and mocking his career.
His caption partially read, “If this hypocrite believed PO had the capacity to defend our votes, why ask him?
“No wonder he was hiding under his mother’s bed during the campaign while we were risking our lives fighting for the votes, which were later on not defended.”
The actor also criticised Okey’s contributions to Nollywood, stating, “First of all, in all his movie life, I am not aware of any movie where he played the lead role that ever made a hit.
“It’s not unusual for failures to try to get traffic in their interviews by twisting facts about notable names. Little minds discuss people, and they do it dishonestly.”
Kenneth continued, “I don’t care what hypocrites and opportunists like Okey Bakassi say. Pretenders and sycophants say and do the worst at the back.”
Last month, Kenneth, a spokesman for the Peter Obi presidential campaign council, declared his exit from the Labour Party and criticized Obi’s leadership style. Okey countered Kenneth’s remarks about Obi, noting that he had never secured an election victory and therefore lacked the standing to critique Obi’s capabilities.
