Kemi Olunloyo accuses Davido of exploiting late mother’s legacy, ignoring Edo State root

The Queen of controversies in Nigeria, Kemi Olunloyo has once again attacked Afrobeats singer, Davido over his strained relationship with his mother’s relatives in Edo State.

It is worth noting that Davido who is a staunch supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was vocal via his social media pages during the Governorship election held in Edo State on Saturday 12th September 2024.

Interestingly, Davido noted that his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, was from Edo State. Thus, the connection intensified his investment in the election's outcome.

Kemi Olunloyo wasn’t buying it. Outraged by what she labelled a publicity stunt, she slammed the singer for “chasing clout” online while allegedly keeping a distant and cold relationship with his mother’s family behind the scenes.

Kemi Olunloyo, never one to hold back, accused Davido of neglecting his roots despite publicly flaunting his Edo heritage. She went further, alleging that the estrangement runs deeper, pointing fingers at Davido’s father, billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke, as a key figure in the family’s disconnect. According to Kemi, Deji deliberately distanced young Davido from his mother’s relatives after her tragic death when he was just 9 years old.

The self-acclaimed investigative journalist didn’t stop there; she hinted at cracks in Deji and Veronica’s marriage before her untimely passing, suggesting that unresolved marital issues may have fueled the family’s strained dynamics. She called out Davido, urging him to stop exploiting his mother’s legacy for political leverage and instead take meaningful steps to reconnect with her family in Edo. Kemi pressed that it’s high time for Davido to mend the fractured ties and rebuild the relationships he’s neglected for so long.
