Kate Spade New York Resort 2023 Collection are as unique as ever.

In 2003, Kate and Andy Spade commissioned AsFour to design a small capsule wardrobe.

Now that the company offers a wide range of items across various categories, Tom Mora and Jennifer Lyu, who were just recently appointed as design directors, must apply the brand’s signature joyful eccentricity to all of them.

The outcomes to date have been inconsistent, but not for lack of effort or attention. There are a number of problems at hand. One is that Kate Spade’s distinctive eccentricity frequently results in prints when it is translated into apparel.

When you add it to the company’s enduringly feminine aesthetic, you begin to stray into Emilio Pucci, Lilly Pulitzer, and Palm Beach territory, which Kate Spade doesn’t “own.” Separately, there were nods to other labels in this pre-fall collection that sounded “lite.”
