American rapper, Kanye West legally known as ‘Ye‘ has declared Wizkid’s Essence as the best song in history.
The Grammy award-winning rapper took to his Instagram page to share the album cover of Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ album released in October 2020.

He wrote,
“Best song in the history of music to date”.
Essence, the fourth song on the album had its video shot in Accra Ghana released on 9th April 2021 and features songstress, Temilade Openiyi better known as Tems. The song sees the duo express their desire for each other.

It is the first Nigerian song in history to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Global 200. The song received a nomination at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Performance.
The song also won three awards – Song of the Year, Best R & B Singles and Best Collaboration at the 15th edition of the Headies Awards held in Atlanta, USA, on Sunday, 4th September 2022.
American singer, Justin Bieber also did a cover for the song.
Ye’s declaration has since received reactions from celebrities and fans all over the world as most express delight while showing praises on Wizkid and Tems.
Reacting, Wizkid took to his Instagram story to repost it.
British model, Naomi Campbell appreciated Kanye. She commented on Ye’s post writing, “Yes!!! Thank you” and thereafter reposted it on her Instagram story with several love emojis.
Comedian Mr Jollof, Singer Joeboy, DJ Tunez, Dotman and others took to Kanye’s comment section to drop a comment.
