Last night, seemingly on a whim, Kanye West tweeted that he’s changing the name of his upcoming album from Swish to Waves. And while most people received the news with a shrug, Wiz Khalifa was pretty ticked off. He felt like the name disrespected Harlem rapper Max B, who describes his brand of hip-hop as wavy.
Wiz tweeted: “Max B is the wavy one. He created the wave. There is no wave without him.”
Wiz then returned to his primary hobby, smoking marijuana, and tweeted about indulging in his very own brand, Khalifa Kush, using the initials KK: “Hit this kk and become yourself.”
From there, things went downhill fast. Kanye noticed Wiz’s tweets and immediately lit into him, launching a two-pronged attack. The majority of the below have since been deleted but first, he abused Wiz over the quality of his music, tweeting:
“Second your first single was corny as f#### and most thereafter”
At some point, Kanye stumbled upon Wiz’s tweet about smoking Khalifa Kush and misinterpreted the initials, KK, as a thinly-veiled reference to his wife, Kim Kardashian and tweeted back that Whiz should never mention his family and Wiz tweeted back to explain what KK meant being “weed” but it was already too late because the Tweeter wars is already on.
But I think all this tweeting back and forth is Kanye’s way of getting free publicity for his upcoming album. What do you think?
