JUSTICE IS SERVED: CECE YARA FOUNDATION WINS COURT CASE AGAINST PAEDOPHILE

On the 16th of February, 2017 the Cece Yara Foundation claimed justice for an innocent child who was abused by a male adult. The accused was detained by the Ijaiye police department where he was questioned with respect to the allegation and violation of a 6 year old girl on the 20th of September 2016.
Further investigations were carried out, upon the parents’ discovery of what had happened to their child at the Mirabel center, Ikeja, where she was taken for medical examinations which confirmed that she had been sexually abused.
The charges against accused read thus,

“That you … name withheld sometime in September. 2016 at the Agbado Ijaiye area of Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully had intercourse with one “………….[1]” ‘f” six years old child and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State”

The suspect was arraigned on the 5th of October 2016 and on the 16th of February 2017, he was found guilty as charged and sentenced to 7 years imprisonment without option of fine.

The Cece Yara foundation in bringing the accused to book has contributed immensely to the psychological healing of the ‘survivor’ and her parents, through its Child Advocacy Program.
It is comforting to know that the Nigerian justice system no longer turns a deaf hear to cases like this.
