John Lyon: How Nigerian Celebrities Reacted to Arrest of Suspected Kidnap Kingpin

The arrest of Abuja big boy John Lyon, a banker turned kidnapper, has stirred reactions from nitizens and Nigerian celebrities are not left out of the hotly debate.

On sunday, a video of the alleged kidnap kingpin went viral online as the police arrested him in Abuja.

In the viral video, he begged for forgiveness after being detained and mentioned that his wife had just given birth to a boy.

“Forgive me, make una forgive me, my wife just born sef, a boy,” he said.

In addition, Lyon asserted that, prior to his arrest, he had only taken part in two kidnapping operations.

Lyon has been on the wanted list of the police for various alleged abductions in the state.

At the Police Officers Mess in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, the police on Monday paraded Lyon alongside three members of his alleged kidnapping gang.

Darey wrote on Instagram that Lyon and others should be held accountable for the crimes he is alleged to have committed.

He wrote: “Ah so he targets bank employees. Niyenn and he was a former cleaner at the bank abi. I’m getting you. The authorities better load them with charges. Perfect example of “don’t believe the hype on the gram”. God protect your people.”

Actress Yetunde Bakare has said that the suspected kidnap kingpin, John Ewa alias John Lyon, did not have mercy on his victims.

In reaction to a viral video showing the alleged kidnapper pleading for mercy after his arrest, Yetunde Bakare made this statement.

“Begging for Mercy when you don’t have mercy on your victims. God is indeed patient,” the actress wrote on Instagram on Monday.

According to his bio on Facebook, the Bayelsa State indigene is a former member of staff of Sterling Bank.

In 2019, the suspect put his weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa, David Lyon.
