Nigerian singer Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk has revealed that he spent N52 million on the visuals and promotion of his 2022 hit song “Like” which featured superstar singers Davido and Kizz Daniel.
The “Kukere Master” made the revelation while reacting to an Instagram post made by UK-based media personality Adesope Olajide.
Adesope, who is popular as the host of “The Afrobeats Podcast,” posted a screenshot of a post made by Iyanya in the past.
Iyanya lamented in the post that music promotion has become expensive and urged artists whose songs go viral without much promotion to be thankful to God.
The post said:
“Promoting music has become very expensive. If you are lucky to get a song go viral, make you thank God.”
Adesope captioned the screenshot:
“Nothing can be truer than these words ….. I’m just glad my brother @iyanya getting his dues once again.”
Reacting to the post, the “Le Kwa Ukwu” crooner shed some light on the amount artists spend on making songs and promoting them since 2021 but advised upcoming acts not to be discouraged by how expensive the industry is.
“The cheapest I have spent on a song since January 2021 is 27m. When I dropped “LIKE” FT Davido and KizzDaniel, we spent 52million, song, Video and promotion.This should not discourage any up-and-coming artiste, you can do it, all you need it’s consistency.’’
Iyanya is one of the biggest acts in the Nigerian entertainment industry. He has collaborated with artists such as Davido, Flavour, and more.
