Yemi Alade, the renowned singer, is slated to record and perform the theme song for Lion Forge Entertainment’s forthcoming Nigerian superhero animation, Iyanu.
She revealed this news through a video message, which was uploaded on the animation series’ YouTube channel last Saturday.
She said, “Hello, everyone, my name is Yemi Alade. I’ve got fantastic news for you today.
“I just want to share with you right now that I’ve been asked to sing the theme song for the incredible animated series Iyanu.
“Enjoy my song ‘Iyanu’ right now. This is a love message from me to you and I really hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.”
Immersed in Nigerian culture and mythology, the animated series is based on the novel “Iyanu: Child of Wonder” by Nigerian creator and filmmaker Roye Okupe.
The theme song represents a collaboration among Yemi Alade, Lion Forge Entertainment, Alcon Sleeping Giant, and Femi Agunbiade, who is the principal composer for the series.
“Iyanu” is set to premiere in the US and throughout Africa in 2025.
The film features a star-studded cast with Serah Johnson as Iyanu, alongside Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Stella Damasus, Blossom Chukwujekwu, and Shaffy Bello.
Yemi Alade had previously collaborated on Beyoncé’s album “The Lion King: The Gift,” which accompanied the namesake animated film.
