Aramide, known for her alternative genre of music with catchy lyrics mostly talking friendship and love. Recently married and got nominated for the NEA’s so we decided to have a chat with her to see what the Base line signee was up to.
GLAMSQUAD: Why the alternative genre of music?
ARAMIDE: Alternative music as it is often called is what isn’t pop but other genres of music. I grew up listening to soul music and really great music. I think that helped to define and form my style of music which we refer to as the alternative music now
GLAMSQUAD: It’s not a very popular genre in this part of the world and it takes a lot of hard work to be successful. Did you quit at some point and what’s the future looking like for Alternative music in Nigeria?
ARAMIDE: Yes it’s not very popular and in a way it’s getting alot of attention lately. Although, Ive had low moments and times that I just get tired but I never really gave up. Because somewhere inside I always felt alternative music had a chance and there’s a huge market for it.
GLAMSQUAD: You have said a lot of times that you grew up in ibadan. So tell us if not Ibadan or Lagos, where else would you love to Live?
ARAMIDE : I grew up in jos and it was a fun place to live.
GLAMSQUAD: sorry our bad
ARAMIDE: But asides Lagos and Jos , lol I would pick Ibadan.
GLAMSQUAD: Favourite vacation place?
ARAMIDE: Dubai should be my favourite place for now.
GLAMSQUAD: What was the last county you visited?
ARAMIDE: UAE (United Arab Emirates)
GLAMSQUAD: Favourite book and cartoon as a child?
ARAMIDE : Snow white
GLAMSQUAD: Books or Movies?
ARAMIDE: Movies
GLAMSQUAD: Last movie you saw?
ARAMIDE: Pitch perfect.
GLAMSQUAD: Congratulations on the NEA Nomination. How has this made you feel and should we expect an album soon?
ARAMIDE: Thanks you very much. It has boosted my confidence as an artist .its a great feeling to be recognized. And it pushes one to work harder. And yes im working towards my album coming out next year.
GLAMSQUAD: What’s the best thing that happened to you this year?
ARAMIDE: I would say getting married to my best friend and my music and nominations and all. God has been very faithful

GLAMSQUAD: Are you fashionable of stylish and why?
ARAMIDE: Yes I am and I’m growing into my own. I have better understanding of my style now.. I love prints, patterns and colours too. Anything stylish and fashionable that fits well and makes a statement will always make my day
