Nigerian singer Paul Okoye better known as Rudeboy has started that himself and some of his pairs are supposed to have retired from music by now.
In an interview with media personality, Adesope Olajide on the Afrobeats podcast, Rudeboy claimed that, in the old order, musicians didn’t stay active for long.
The expectant father of three also noted that criticism and scandals are inevitable in the entertainment industry, affecting both top artists and newcomers.
He stated that what truly matters is the musician’s personality and how they handle challenges. Rudeboy also pointed out the challenge of balancing family life with the demands of being an active musician.
He said,
“In the old ways of doing music, by now people like us suppose don retire.
“There’s always a time for everything in life. Things will always happen. If you are a celebrity and you think people will always see you like an angel, trust me you’re not going anywhere. There are times that something would be against you. It’s always like that.
Every top artist has had their share of criticisms and scandals. Even the up-and-coming ones, too, will suffer the same fate someday. It’s a normal thing [in the entertainment industry]. But what matters is your personality and how you handle issues.”

Rudeboy shot to fame in the 2000s as part of the PSquare duo with his twin brother Peter Okoye, known as Mr. P.
The group initially split in 2016 but reunited in 2021. However, in August 2024, Rudeboy confirmed that P-Square had broken up once more after Peter accused him and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, of diverting the group’s funds.
