Ace record producer, Olumide Ogunade better known as ID Cabasa, has voiced his opinion on the ongoing dispute between emerging artists and veterans in the Nigerian music scene.
Recall that veteran singer, Eedris Abdulkareem scolded Grammy-award-winning Afrobeats singer Burna Boy after he claimed that no Nigerian artist paved the way for him in the music industry.
The situation escalated into a social media drama between them. rapper OdumoduBlvck and other new artists supported Burna Boy, while Jaywon and some older musicians sided with Abdulkareem.
In a recent episode of the ‘Afrobeats Podcast,’ ID Cabasa mentioned that to have peace in the Nigerian music industry, both the new generation artists and veterans need to understand each other.
ID Cabasa further stated that the newbies should respect the veterans, and the veterans should act more honourably. He also urged music legends to support young artists instead of being overly critical of them
“The new guys need to respect the OGs. The OGs need to be more honourable. You are not competing against these guys. If you see yourself as a competition to these guys, what you’ve done is that you’ve mortgaged your honour.”
