African fashion was on display during the African Fashion Week, which took place from September 7 to 9, 2022.
The event, which took place at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, was organised in conjunction with the Lagos Fashion Fair in order to promote the diverse fashion culture of Nigeria.
Glamsquad Magazine gathered that more than 60 African designers were represented during the week. On the first day, guests arrived on the red carpet and rotated through the stands and cubicles at the venue where fabrics, jewellery, and other fashion items were on display.
Following the red carpet event, models strutted down the runway wearing creations by Modesty Signature, Adire Odua Ready To Wear, and Glue by Nasir Elias.
Models appeared on the second day dressed in traditional attire as well as children’s clothing designed by Laura and Mo. Female clothing was also available from Liquid Fashion and Design. Denrele Edun, a well-known show host, was also present to enthral the crowd while discussing his experiences in the fashion industry.
The event’s masterclass sessions with fashion designer and stylist Toyin Lawani, aka Tiannah, and a speech by well-known actress Mercy Aigbe on the value of attending film school to develop one’s skills rather than simply entering the film industry unprepared were other highlights.
Samuel Perry, aka Broda Shaggi, a well-known skit creator, also gave young people the advice that they don’t need to own cameras in order to be content creators. He suggests that they begin by using their phones.
Funke Bucknor and Hazel Onou, aka Whitemoney, were among the attendees.
