Embattled Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti has broken his silence a few hours after he was released from prison on bail.
In the late hours of Tuesday, 23rd May, Seun Kuti was released from prison on bail by the Lagos State police command.
His lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika SAN confirmed Kuti’s release to journalists. He said,
“Yes, Ṣeun Kuti was released minutes ago. His bail conditions had been perfected since last Thursday, but the police asked for an extension to remand him in their custody until today (Tuesday), to conclude an investigation.”
Following his release, Seun Kuti took to his Instagram page to pen an appreciation post to his family, his legal and friends who stood by him during his stay in prison. He noted that
He wrote:
“I want to say a profound thanks to everyone who showed me all this love. All my friends that showed up! Thanks most especially to my beautiful wife”.
“Last but not least. The Legal team. Uncle Femi Falana (SAN), Uncle Olumide Fisika (SAN), Uncle Kayode Adegoke (SAN), and Barrister Ogunlana. Ade Ademiluyi. And everyone on the team. I owe u my freedom and my Sanity. Let’s go!!”.
