David Adeleke, nicknamed Davido, has denied reports that he was detained in East Africa while on tour on April 1, 2024.

Some sectors of the media reported on Monday that the singer had been arrested.
However, in a statement posted on Tuesday via his X Twitter, Davido clarified that, contrary to claims, he was not detained, and that he had a successful tour in Uganda and Kenya before returning to Nigeria.
He stated that he has never been arrested for any crime in his career.
The musician pledged to take legal action against the creators of the rumours.
“I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation,” the statement read partly.
