GTBank Fashion Weekend Must See Designers

“Secure your bags,” the announcer bellowed at the crowd. Just an hour after I arrived at the GTBank Fashion Weekend, two iPhones and a Samsung were reportedly missing. The venue was clustered with buyers and fashionistas. The exhibition stalls seemed more than usual which made the hall seem full,  buyers and onlookers swarmed the hall and outside were great props for photos as well as the ethnic Hut that had Nike Art Gallery showcasing as well tie-dye designers.

The runway show was great. Ladies,  secure your wigs because these looks might snatch you.

New York based designer, Sukeina showcased one of the best looks on day one, with a Gothic futuristic collection. Some of his pieces were sensual and some were playful yet edgy.  The ruffle coat reminded me of that of Delpozo as as the bold collar off shoulder pieces but aside that I was impressed.

Another designer from New York after our wallet was Romeo Hunt with his edgy deconstructed streetstyle vibe and let’s just take a moment to gasp at the fur coat and leather gloves.

Chinese designer, Ji Won Choi, impressed the audience with her xenomaniac collection. She basically combined various culture together as one which is what life is really about.  We should all be together. Her collection was very artistic and I loved it.

Gert-Johan Coetzee gave us 1960s glamour with the gothic look, sparkly sequin dresses, printed art pieces that seemed a lot like Dolce and Gabanna but Gert-Johan has his own personal signature style which seemed unique with the straight-cut pants, ruffle dresses and sporty looks. Over all it was a playful summer collection.

Fierce is the only word I would use to describe Laquan Smith’s collection.  All the models strolled down that runway looking fierce. His pieces were sexy and lots of opulent fur coats draped on the models. He brought that Hip Hop fashion to runway however I couldn’t help but notice these weren’t his Spring Summer 19 collection recently showcased at NYFW but actually his Fall Winter 18 collection which was showcased earlier this year.

One of my favourite collections have to be Idma Nof. Her pieces were playful, stylish, wearable and suitable for the Nigerian audience.
