Funke Akindele, Mary Remmy Njoku and Mr Eazi have taken to their social media pages to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th independence.

Filmmaker, actress and one-time politician, Funke Akindele took to her Instagram page to share a video of herself dressed in Nigeria’s colours as she expressed deep appreciation for the resilience of Nigerians during these challenging times.

The mother of two reaffirmed her unwavering belief in Nigeria’s future greatness, emphasizing that she has no plans to relocate abroad in search of greener pastures. The record-breaking producer highlighted her achievements in Nigeria, including empowering young people, shooting films with over 175 crew members, and selling out her movie premieres.

Funke further acknowledged that Nigeria has been the foundation of her success and remains committed to standing by the country through its tough times. She said

“I pray that this country will be great, yes! You say it’s cliche, we keep saying it will be great, oh yes it will be great because this is where I earn a living, this is where I’m called ‘gbogbo bigs girl’ this is where I make all the money to afford all the designer bag, designer cloth, this is where I make the money to empower a lot of people.

I just finished filming Everybody Loves Jenifa with over 175 crew members here in Nigeria and Ghana but majority from my country Nigeria. Where did I make the money from? From Nigeria. For me, I will not japa, I will remain in Nigeria, Nigeria go better.”

Actress and Rock Studio CEO, Mary Remi Njoku on her path took to her Instagram page to share a picture of her two girls dressed in the Hausa and Igbo attire to celebrate ‘Unity in Diversity’ in Nigeria.

She wrote, “Unity in diversity. Happy Independence Day.”

Singer, Oluwatosin Ajibade better known as Mr Eazi took to his official X page to encourage Nigerians with his Independence Day message. He tweeted,

“Celebrating the strength, resilience and Energy of all citizens of Nigeria. Hoping for a greater Future! #nigeriaindependence”
