Former UFC fighter, Phil Baroni has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend in Mexico over the weekend.
The Tribuna De La Bahia newspaper in Mexico reported that when police arrived, they discovered Baroni’s girlfriend unconscious and naked in bed with a sheet over her.
According to the report, she had bruises and marks all over her body and face, and she gave no indication that she was still alive.
Baroni’s hands were reportedly red when authorities examined his body. They took pictures.
In regards to what Phil claimed happened, the retired fighter located law enforcement and informed them that he and his girlfriend got into a heated argument while intoxicated in their hotel room before getting physical.
According to reports, Baroni told police that after discovering that his girlfriend had slept with another man, he was upset and told her to take a shower, but she refused.
The woman allegedly hit her head when Baroni grabbed her by the arms and dragged her into the shower.
The 46-year-old, who was allegedly intoxicated and using drugs, is said to have claimed that he helped the woman get out of the tub because she was unable to do so on her own.
Baroni claimed that after she complained of being cold, he took her to bed, took off her clothes, and wrapped her in a blanket.
Then, according to Baroni, he went out to buy cigarettes and beer at her request.
When he returned, Baroni allegedly told police that he thought the woman was sleeping. Sadly, she had passed away.
The alleged victim will be subjected to an autopsy by officials to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The former MMA champion competed for many prestigious organizations throughout his career, including the UFC, Pride, and Bellator.
When Baroni last competed in September 2019, he was defeated by submission.
