Genesis of Brymo and Burna Boy’s feud
The feud between Brymo and Burna Boy is not unexpected as celebrities are in the habit of shading each other out of jealousy or clout chasing to trend.
In this case, Brymo who had a fallout with many of his fans following his supporters for All Progressive Congress (APC) during the 2023 election took a swipe at Burna Boy during an interview with TVC in September.
In the interview, Brymo slammed Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy for claiming to be founders of Afrobeats as a music genre.
He believes the trio are undermining the efforts and hard work put in by the late legendary singer Fela Anikulapo Kuti to create “Afrobeat” as a music genre.
Focusing on Burna Boy, Brymo said the former tagged himself as the Jesus of Afrobeats.
He also claimed that Burna Boy is nothing but “sleazy, cheap, very unoriginal and very fake”.
Brymo opined that Burna Boy didn’t deserve to win a Grammy with his “Twice As Tall” album because he lacks “originality,’’ while stressing that most of Burna Boy’s songs are samples.
He said
“I saw a video where he (Burna Boy) was saying that he was the Jesus of Afrobeats. And he put Davido and Wizkid on some other mountains like that. I think he (Burna Boy) is sleazy, he is cheap, he is a thief. Very unoriginal. Very fake. Every of his song is a sample or a stolen slogan. Who does that? And who awards you Grammy for that?”
As fans patiently await Burna Boy’s response, it is worth noting that the singer stated revealed he doesn’t take allegations slightly.
