Following the completion of the 2023 World Cup qualifying windows, FIBA has released the most recent ranking of African basketball countries, glamsquad reports
In the most recent FIBA World rankings, Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, remained the continent’s top team and ranked 19th in the world.
D’Tigers won two games, defeating Guinea and Ivory Coast, before falling to Angola in the final game, losing the qualifying position to Cape Verde at the recently concluded African qualifiers for the World Cup in Luanda.
According to the most recent FIBA rankings, the D’Tigers are the best basketball country in Africa and the 19th best in the world, with 461.4 points.
Tunisia is ranked second on the continent and 21st overall, with 448.6 points, while Senegal is ranked third in Africa but 37th overall. Angola is the fourth-best country in Africa, but ranks 41st globally.
Ivory Coast, which also qualified for the World Cup, is ranked fifth in Africa and 42nd overall.
Spain is rated the best basketball-playing nation in the world, with 758 points ahead of the United States, which is ranked second. Australia, Argentina, and France are ranked third, fourth, and fifth on the global scale, respectively.
