In this week’s fashion history, we will be taking a look at the history of Zimmermann. Sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann founded their namesake label which is an Australian fashion label in 1991 and called it Zimmermann.

It all began in Sydney when Nicky Zimmermann, an East Sydney design school graduate, started designing apparel in her parent’s basement and selling it at Paddington markets so she could observe firsthand how people reacted to her designs. Later in 1991, her sister Simone joined her.
Every year during New York Fashion Week, Zimmermann showcases their ready-to-wear collections in both Australia and the USA. The Zimmermann brand expanded to include Swim Separates, Kids, and Accessories in the ensuing years. Following the expansion, Zimmermann began offering ready-to-wear lines outside of Australia.

Since its inception in the USA in 2011, Zimmermann has released its collections according to a calendar for the Northern Hemisphere. This comprises the Spring/Summer, Fall, and Resort Ready to Wear collections, as well as the Summer, and Resort, Swim collections. The Ready-to-Wear, Swim and Resort, Kids, and Accessories categories are now included under the Zimmermann name.
The sisters presented their SS23 RTW collection at Paris Fashion Week and their designs are so impeccable.
