The Dutch avant-garde luxury fashion brand called Viktor & Rolf was established in 1993 by Viktor Horsting (born in Geldrop in 1969) and Rolf Snoeren (born 1969, Dongen). Viktor & Rolf have worked to dispel fashion myths and reunite the worlds of art and fashion for more than twenty years. Designers Viktor & Rolf have created both ready-to-wear and haute couture collections. The couple is well known for their cutting-edge designs, which largely focus on theatrical and performing fashion runways.

The flamboyant silhouettes, clever material choices, and irreverent ideas that the designers would later become renowned for were first seen in early shows. In 2000, Viktor & Rolf unveiled their brand image, a wax seal with the initials V&R, and started applying their creative skills to ready-to-wear collections.
