Fame sometimes feels like prison – Beyonce spills

Music icon, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter recently opened up about the complexities of fame in an interview with GQ. She admitted that fame can sometimes feel restrictive, despite its perks. Beyoncé emphasized her commitment to creative freedom, explaining that she prioritizes innovation and storytelling in her music above all else.

Beyoncé explained that she works at her own pace, motivated by a deep desire to inspire self-reflection and empowerment in her audience.

The 42-year-old mother of three also touched on her sporadic public appearances, clarifying that she prioritizes her craft over constantly staying in the spotlight, choosing to let her art speak for itself.

“I create at my own pace, on things that I hope will touch other people. I hope my work encourages people to look within themselves and come to terms with their own creativity, strength, and resilience. I focus on storytelling, growth, and quality. I’m not focused on perfectionism. I focus on evolution, innovation, and shifting perception.

Working on the music for Cowboy Carter and launching this exciting new project feels nothing like prison, nor a burden. In fact, I only work on what liberates me. It is fame that can at times feel like prison. So, when you don’t see me on red carpets, and when I disappear until I have art to share, that’s why.”

The ‘Brown Skin Girl’ crooner emphasized that her passion for music and delivering meaningful messages remains unwavering, even if she occasionally steps back from the public eye. She assured that her dedication to creating impactful art will continue, regardless of her level of visibility in the spotlight.

“Good music and strong messages will never retire”.

Beyoncé had previously expressed that she is no longer driven by chart positions or sales figures.

She explained that her perspective on success in the music industry has shifted as she’s grown personally.

Reflecting on her earlier career, Beyoncé told The Hollywood Reporter that there was a time when chart rankings and sales motivated her. Now, she believes true fulfillment comes from pushing creative boundaries, channeling her emotions and experiences into her art, and continually evolving on a personal level.
