Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has revealed that he may be able to appoint his successor as Twitter CEO by the end of 2023, but first needs to?stabilize? his social media company.
‘I’m guessing probably towards the end of this year should be good timing to find someone else to run the company,’ he said via video to the World Government Summit in Dubai.
‘I need to stabilize the organization and ensure that it is in good health, as well as that the product roadmap is clearly laid out… I believe it will be in a stable position by the end of the year.’
Musk became Twitter’s CEO in October as part of his $44 billion acquisition of the social media company.
Late last year, the billionaire stated that he does not expect to be the CEO of Twitter indefinitely and will eventually hand over the reins to someone else.
Musk asked Twitter users in December to vote on whether he should step down as CEO. The majority of the 17.5 million votes cast were in favor.
I’ll step down as CEO as soon as I find someone stupid enough to take the job! After that, I’ll just manage the software and server teams. Musk responded to the poll with a tweet.
According to Forbes, Musk is the second-wealthiest person on the planet, trailing only French luxury brand magnate Bernard Arnault. According to Forbes, Musk’s net worth is just under $200 billion.
Since Musk took full control of Twitter on October 27, the platform has undergone a flurry of changes, including the introduction of a $10 blue tick.
