Nigeria’s foremost anti-graft agency has linked one Precious Ofure Omonkhoa, a suspected cryptocurrency fraudster, to popular Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist Obinna Iyiegbu.

He claimed Precious was apprehended in Lagos’ Ikoyi neighborhood after reliable intelligence about his illicit operations.

Precious allegedly pretended to be a Swedish national named Moshem Cnich in order to swindle unsuspecting victims.

The suspect claimed to be the owner of a bitcoin scheme in which people deposit money in the hopes of making large profits.

According to preliminary inquiry, Precious engaged in a dating scam and deceived two victims in Canada, according to Uwujaren.

“The suspect confessed to have laundered the proceeds of his fraudulent activities by purchasing a piece of land worth $150,000 through bitcoin from CASA-Cubana, a project being run by the Cubana Group”, he said.

Cubana Group is owned by popular socialite, Obinna Iyiegbu better known as Obi Cubana.

It is unclear if the EFCC questioned the businessman about Precious’ transaction with CASA-Cubana during his 4-day interrogation in Abuja.

Uwujaren added that upon his arrest, $50,000 was found in the suspect’s bitcoin wallet. He will soon be charged to court.
