Singer Dremo is one of the most successful acts in the history of the DMW record label so far. The “Kpa” crooner’s rise to fame is somewhat of a shocking story. He was signed by superstar musician and DMW boss Davido in April 2016, but he felt it was an “April Fool” prank after Davido told him via a phone call on April 1st that he would be signed the next day.

Apparently, Dremo was born and brought up in Ibadan and has always had a desire to work with the “Fall” crooner. He was recording in a studio in Ibadan owned by Davido’s road manager then, and he always pleaded with his boss to arrange a meeting with Davido.

Dremo’s dreams would only take 48 hours to come true after meeting Davido, as he was signed to the DMW label. Davido was thrilled by his talent after Dremo recorded a song on his laptop.

Dremo said:

“Actually, I met Davido two days before he signed me. The president of DMW, who has been friends with me from way back, messaged me and said Davido was in town.I got to Lagos and recorded a song that night after we got back from the club but I couldn’t sleep. I recorded the song on Davido’s laptop. After that, I went home. On April 1, I got a call from Davido saying, ‘omo, you are signing tomorrow o.’ It was like April fool to me. I had to go and find out.”
