The late Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr has been laid to rest in his father’s compound in Ogbe Ijoh, Warri, Delta State.
Glamsquad recalls that in November 2021, Sylvester Oromoni died after allegedly being bullied by his seniørs in the Lagos school.
However, the school management debunked the reports, alleging that the boy sustained injuries while playing football with his schoolmates.
This resulted in a legal dispute between the deceased’s parents and the school administration. The parents contended that their son had no pre-existing health issues before the unfortunate incident.
In the same year, Sylvester Oromoni Snr, the father, insisted that his son would not be laid to rest until justice was served.
The autopsy conducted in January 2022 disclosed that the 12-year-old Dowen Student succumbed to ‘acute lung injury from chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force.’
The Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Lagos issued a subsequent report stating that his death was natural, sparking a back-and-forth with the family.
After a span of two years, the parents of the deceased have, at last, laid him to rest today, January 27th in Delta. The burial drew the attendance of dignitaries, among them Human Rights activist Femi Falana.
