Sean “Diddy” Combs, the American rapper and entrepreneur, was arrested in New York City on Monday on unspecified federal charges.
Homeland Security Investigations officers arrested the 54-year-old music legend at his temporary residence, the Park Hyatt Hotel on 57th Street.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams announced the arrest in a statement on X. “We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time,” Williams said, without elaborating on the specific charges.
Since November 2023, several women, including ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, sued Diddy, accusing him of sexual assault and embroiling him in a legal controversy.

One of the lawsuits was brought by Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, a former producer for Diddy, who alleged that Combs had sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened him over the span of a year.
A March raid by the Department of Homeland Security on two properties linked to the rapper, and a recently surfaced 2016 video showing Diddy assaulting Cassie, have intensified scrutiny surrounding him.
While Diddy initially denied her allegations, he later issued an apology, saying, “I am truly sorry, and I know my actions were inexcusable.”
Diddy’s legal troubles have deepened, as a Michigan inmate recently won $100 million in a separate sexual assault lawsuit against the rapper by default judgment.
Diddy faces escalating public and legal pressure as federal charges loom, with further details expected upon the unsealing of the indictment.
