After his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died in September 2022, Charles ascended to the throne.
He will be formally crowned on May 6, a date that Harry and Markle’s fans believe was chosen specifically to cause a conflict for them because it is their son Archie’s 4th birthday.
Since they stepped down from their senior royal duties in January 2020, Markle and Harry have had a strained relationship with his family.
“I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence regarding the coronation from His Majesty’s office,” a spokesperson for the couple told The Sunday Times on Sunday.
“At this time, we will not make an immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend.”
Meghan and Harry’s relationship with the Royal family has been strained since the couple stepped down from their senior royal duties in January 2020.
Tensions erupted when Harry, 38, published a tell-all memoir in which he revealed a slew of family secrets, including an alleged physical altercation with his brother, Prince William, and a claim that Charles, 74, relished making hurtful remarks about redheaded Harry’s “real father.”
“Pa liked telling stories, and this was one of the best in his repertoire,” wrote the late Princess Diana’s younger son in one excerpt of the memoir. He’d always end with a burst of philosophizing … Who knows if I’m the real Prince of Wales? Who knows if I’m your biological father?
“He’d laugh and laugh, though it was a remarkably unfunny joke, given the rumor that my actual father was one of Mummy’s former lovers: Major James Hewitt,” he continued. “Sadism was one cause of this rumor, but another was Major Hewitt’s flaming ginger hair.”
The royals have yet to comment on the book’s contents.
