The late pastor and televangelist, Temitope Balogun Joshua better known as TB Joshua has been trending on social media following an expose documentary conducted by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
The 150-minute long document titled “Disciples: the cult of TB Joshua” was conducted over two years and spread across three episodes. It detailed how ex-members of the late pastors’s church Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) were physically abused, sexually assaulted and infilted with trauma. The witnesses also detailed how miracles were being fabricated to sway people.
Some of the twenty-five persons interviewed recorded how hot-tempered TB Joshua was and how he would lap them at the slightest provocation. One of the victims recalled how he would take permission to use the gent while another who was a publisher recalled how she was slapped for not publishing an article on time.
They all noted that the late TB Joshua wanted to control everyone and say it was an honour for them to be slapped by him because he was net to Jesus Christ.
Following the unveiling of the documentary, a surge of opinions has swept through social media, with numerous Nigerians expressing diverse perspectives on the controversy.
Prominent individuals, including politicians such as Dele Momodu and Femi Fani-Kayode, have also voiced their opinions on the evolving situation.

Before the New Millenium, Evangelist Bisola Hephzibah Johnson, a disciple of TB Joshua cried out about the series of abuse she endured in the Synagogue Church of All Nations for fourteen years. She lived in the church premises and worked as the head of video editor.
In 2017, Bisola published a book on TB Joshua titled ‘The TB Joshua I Know: Deception of The Age Unmasked’ and in 2019, she published another book titled ‘Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Visit The Synagogue ‘Church of All Nations’.
The books on the late TB Joshua gave an insight into the true nature and life of the pastor. Bisola was conversant with a lot of information many could only dream of knowing. She unearths the reality of what goes on behind the scenes of TB Joshua’s televised miracles as broadcast on his TV station, Emmanuel TV. This raises an eyebrow as many travel far and wide to receive their fair share of miracles.
Late broadcaster and investigative journalist Kola Olawuyi conducted a series on his radio program ‘Nkan Mbe.’ During this series, he interviewed numerous former backroom staff and members of the SCOAN who unveiled a range of alleged atrocities, including claims of occultism within the church.
Did Bisola’s books dent TB Joshua’s image?
Alas! he was an influential religious figure and one of Africa’s wealthiest pastors who enjoyed everything influence could bring. In 2011, American business magazine, Forbes named him as one of the richest pastors in Africa.
It is worth noting that Bisola has been on her truth long before TB Joshua’s death on 5th June 2021.
