Nigerian singer D’banj is known for hits like “Why Me,’’ “Fall In Love,’’ “Feeling The Nigga,’’ and more. The multi-award-winning singer is one of the biggest in the history of Nigerian music. He has collaborated with international acts such as Snoop Dogg and Akon.

However, the “Koko Master,” as he is fondly called, did not limit his craft to just music; he is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the Nigerian entertainment industry. At the height of his career in 2014, D’banj ventured into agriculture, a move that will see him establish a garri processing plant.

In a 2017 interview with Premium Times, he said:

“We launched the agriculture project in 2014 and this opened my eyes to a lot of possibilities in this sector. I am proud to tell you that I opened my own Koko Garri processing plant where we can process cassava into garri in Sagamu last year. We are also trying to expand and I am happy with that my investment in agriculture has been on autopilot. Koko Garri is here to stay and when we want to expand we will be able to meet up with the demands of the public.’’

D’banj also noted that venturing into business was the greatest decision he made in his career.

“Going into business and focusing on the showbiz angle of my career at the time I did, has been my greatest decision. My best career decision was not my decision directly. We all know the details so I don’t want to mention names but I know that everyone understands who or what I’m referring to.”

The singer’s decision is a great one because artists do not remain at the top forever; they need something to fall back on when they are past their peak.
